This happened in june of 1987 at the old haunted farm house in Columbia Pa. Witnesses to this were myself, mother in law, and several of the kids. The boys were playing in the dirt pile out by the garden with their trucks and cars. We were in the house getting lunch ready. There was an old apple tree about 100 years old that had years before been struck by lightning and was laying on the ground. It wasn't attached by too much bark, but it still produced apples in abundance. Looking out the window to check in the boys, I saw the apple tree burst into flames. This was right beside where the boys were playing. I filled large pots of water and we ran out several times dumping them onto the tree to put it out. The next day, as I was sitting at the table and looking out into the yard, I noticed the burn in the tree. The devils face was burnt into the tree. It was looking right at me. I painted over this several times and it just bled through everytime. We even tried to sand it out, to no avail. I wish i had taken a picture of it, but it was so scary looking i just closed the curtains and never looked out that window again. We moved out a few months later.
